Outrageous Industry Transformation: Cell Phone Doom Phone Revenues for Hotels

Technology has affected to the entire industries. For this passage, hotel will be the case study. Hotel's revenues are generated by various of sources and phone bill charges is one of the sources. However, the income from the phone bill charges of the hotel declined starting from $1,274.00 in year 2000 to $178 in year 2009. This declined mainly caused by increase in use of cell phone as everyone has owned a cell phone. Hence, they don't need any pay phone services when they check-in the hotel.

Question 1

When was the last time you used a pay phone? How often have you used a pay phone in last year?

I can't really remember when was my last time to use the pay phone. Perhaps during my secondary school Form 3. Since then I think I didn't use any pay phone.

Question 2

If you needed to use a pay phone, would you know immediately where one was located?

If it is my house house area I think it will be near to my flat's lifts. If it is my office area I can't see any. The nearest one would be in the shopping mall like Sungei Wang, Times Square etc.

Question 3

When was the last time you used your cell phone? How often you used your cell phone in the last day?

The last time I used my cell phone would be today or few minutes before started this assignment. I used my phone very often or I should say I will check my phone every 10-20 minutes. All my friends will contact me or find via whatsapp and it is free if you have Internet access. Besides that, I use my cell phone for other purposes when I free such as facebook, Google, Games, check mails etc. I can do all these with the cell phone and it is free if I have Internet access.
